I'm having the exact same problem. I just upgraded from 2.0.09 to 2.0.13. Now everytime I go into the control panel in a new session, it tells me that it's the first time that I've entered admin, as if it's a new installation.

I'm also having trouble saving my preferences now. I'm trying to close down the site to debug another issue that I think may be related to the upgrade, but I'm not able to close the site. Saving any preferences takes me to a blank white page where it stalls. Going back to the control panel at that point through the URL shows no modules. They only appear once I open the admin module again and get the "first time" message again.

Is this a bug in 2.0.13???

OH! I suppose I should add that my client chose a windows hosting server. YNOTINTX, are you on Windows or Unix/Linux?

I use iContent for my articles. Putting content from MS-Word into XOOPS is very simple using the Design tool in page admin. (You can only access this tool when you are logged in with Internet Explorer for Windows.)

When the Design tool open, I simply copy the content in the Word document and then paste in the design window. Then click the "Cleanup HTML" button (upper right, looks like a blue eraser hovering over a document). This removes all of those nasty Word stylings. I'm then able to apply all of my styles as I wish.

I am serious. Debugging is the quickest and easiest way to narrow down problems. it's not a "last resort" thing.

Please take a look at the troubleshooting (debugging) methods outlined in the Xoops Tutorial. It may help you identify the problem.. or at least narrow it down,

Oui.

It's really not good practice to update any type of color within a template. This is one of my biggest beefs with a lot of module developers. ALL colors should be modified via the CSS file. Your key is the class="xoopsQuote". Find this in your CSS file, and you'll find the errant color code.

No. But you have to put yourself in the mind of a newbie.

WHICH search box? The one on the site I just installed? That came up with nothing.

A problem many newbies have with techies is that we short-hand everything and expect them to understand it all. It is usually helpful to provide just a "pinch" more detail to relieve the frustration and not make them feel stupid if they don't understand your first response and so they have to ask for further clarification.

Don't worry . It's no big deal. I have, however, seen many responses here (by many people) that could have been just a bit more detailed to provide that extra bit of help needed.

JMass,

Note that it depends on what you are looking for. sqMail (the SquirrelMail hack for Xoops) is free. HiveMail will cost you for a license. It's really cheap considering what you get, but if you're looking for a "no-cost solution" you'll need to consider a further hack of sqMail for synching instead.

There is no way to easily customize this in the user/admin interface. You have to customize several pages/templates, which is no easy feat when you're new to Xoops.

If you can, I recommend waiting until XOOPS 2.1 (the beta) and 2.2 (release) versions are available. From my understanding, this next version will have enhanced capabilities for user profiles, just as you have requested here. Take a look at the World of XOOPS (WOX) newsletter #5 for more details (under "Herko's World").

I also look for a modul where users can search for a woman or a man according their age etc

Take a look at the FriendFinder module. I believe it will fit your needs perfectly.
