That could be done with an Apache directive, in an .htaccess file, that redirects to a PHP script that handles the username-to-uid database lookup.

Or I guess if you want to do it the hard way, you could write a custom Apache handler.

I'm not sure if the subdomain reference (username.xoops.org) could be handled in this manner.

There are presently two branches of XOOPS: 2.0 and 2.2.

The reason for this odd situation is that the lead core developer left and someone else took over and continued development (2.0 => 2.2). Then the first one returned, didn't like the changes done in his absence, and resumed development where he had left off (2.0).

Merging the two branches together (2.0 + 2.2 => 2.3) is a high-priority task for the core development team.

For now, if you're a new XOOPS user, it's recommended that you use 2.0, the current release in this branch being 2.0.17.1.

Do you mean documentation for the schema, i.e., descriptions of the tables and columns, and their relationships? If so, I don't know of any such documentation. I've had to figure a lot of it out by studying the code.

The PHP file that defines those constants must be "included".

That's normally done within a .php file, but can also be done within a template using the Smarty function "include_php".

If your server runs phpsuexec, here's a nice article that explains the permissions:http://www.cablan.net/phpsuexec.html

I just received the following email message at my sourceforge.net email address. It looks like spam to me, but I thought I'd check for other opinions.

Message body follows:

I’m the founder of BigCarrot.com, a website that uses crowdsourcing to create inducement prizes to encourage the development of solutions to specific problems, and software development and the open source community seem like ideal application for them.

I’ll be launching the site in the next few weeks and am interested in finding some initial prizes start off with. I’d really like to discuss with you the possibility of creating a prize that addresses a specific issue with XOOPS.

There are no fees for using the site, and I’m not trying to sell you anything.

Best,

Marcan has been one of the most active core developers. He'll continue to be involved with XOOPS at the SmartFactory. And of course he's welcome to rejoin the core developers at any time, as is anyone else who wants to contribute.
