Me too. If I disallow file access permissions, people don't see the file - I want them to see but cannot download until they register.

You might want to try editing your mainfile.php

I'd like to know this too. I've been trying to get Adsense inside my news articles but nothing every comes up. Just blank. I've made sure HTML is turned on but no avail so I have it in blocks right now which to me isn't ideal.

What I'm trying to achieve is
--News Article
----blah blah blah
----Adsense
----continue news item blah blah

Are you using newbb? In each forum maybe you made everyone a moderator? If not then your groups the regular members group should only have moduel access rights not admin. There's not a lot of info to go on so I'm just assuming here.

I'm using News 1.2 and I think the templates changed a LOT? Regardless, I'm trying to implement tracback on news which requires me to put a link like
http://site.com/cgi-bin/tb.cgi?=[storyid]

I *thought* it used to be we would just go to templates and put something like
"http://site.com/cgi-bin/tb.cgi?=<{$news.id}>"

but that doesn't work anymore and comparing the old and new templates, the smarty variables have changed can anyone help me?

Hi Dobephat. I guess you found the problem yes usually its something to do with your content and like your timestamp thing etc. I noticed the Xoops.org backend timestamp is
Thu, 26 Aug 2004 11:30:10 CDT

Which is pretty much the same as yours but maybe yours should read MST instead of Mountain Standard Time... I have no idea how to change this because I haven't had problems with my timestamp before on default XOOPS install. Maybe try the General settings preferences.

Meanwhile check out this question I posted at brandkycoke (RSSfit) sitehttp://www.brandycoke.com/home/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=37&forum=7
You will see that there is a slight problem in the RSS feed template. Just fix that as they recommended.

I also went to your website and subscribed tohttp://www.theatreport.com/modules/rss/rss.php. Went to my RSS reader (FireFox Sage) and it came out without any problems so it is working

DobePhat backend.php and RSSFit works perfectly. See it in action athttp://www.BizDome.com/modules/rss however in my experience, feeds do not validate not because of a module or XOOPS but because of funny characters in the feed. XML is SO picky. A lot of times Feed Validator will tell you where the problem is and 9 out of 10 times its because of a &, ' or some character. I guess the modules should convert & to & but I dunno. Check your titles the problem is usually there.

Wonderful! Thanks. I've got registration keys too but haven't tried it out, but will check both out soon. You are certainly right. I'm trying desperately trying to use XOOPS for commercial application (my small business) and something like this is sorely missing. Although we don't have a payment module yet (soon I hope) this could actually help implement a semi-automatic payment/signup process. Thanks.

Yes, just get him signed up as regular member or add him as member, then go to admin cp, groups, admin select user, add to group.
