Try to test the modules with the standard theme that comes with XOOPS (like the xSwatch4). There might be a conflict between your theme and the module, so we would have to narrow it down.

Please always provide the XOOPS version and the PHP version, as well as the location where the error happens (Home, a module, etc.)
If a module, then what version of the module.
We need that to get better idea and be able to replicate that error.

I got it working in my environment, but I am not sure whether this is valid for everyone.

This is the code:

The biggest problem was that my mail provider use different setting for client tools like outlook or thunderbird in comparison with setting for smtp access via a CMS.
Therefore: check allways in advance which settings your provider allows

Again, I'm so sorry to hear it.

But I can't believe that they could not provide you with the database backup. If they got you all the other files, then obviously they still have access to the server, right?

I would ask them to explain to you what these files are, and how do you suppose to use them? Maybe they could convert these files to a mysql format?

Another way to get back your content, even if it would be very time consuming, is to use http://www.archive.org and then copy individual pages from Publisher there, e.g. your recipes.

Maybe you could even create a script that would go through all the Publisher posts by "id" number, and extract them from http://www.archive.org? Just thinking here loud...
