Installation Troubleshooting::Migration to 2.5.11 final
Hi,
in the process of migration,
I read: "copy /upgrade (...) then run /upgrade/preflight.php"

I think we should read : "copy /themes to the themes direxctory then" "copy /upgrade (...) then run /upgrade/preflight.php"

Why ?
Cause we run on a XOOPS 2.5.11 RCx version, We need to update the very last version of the files in the theme directory otherwise we get lot of error that they are already ok in the final version.

I used the automatic coorection:
"Click the "Yes" checkbox below and then click the Run Scan button to try to automatically fix any issues found."

it works fine in 2 steps !

Then the process for the module is fine but same think, we need to copy /modules directory in the module XOOPS directory

Then I copied others directories the the upgrade finish
Very very good work, dev team !

A least, I think the process is not clear.
- Either we copy the full directories in the root (for xoops_data + xoops_lib, copy in the special secure directory) then launch the whole process
- Either we copy /upgrade in the root directory + /themes in /themes, and /modules in the modules directory then launch the process, preflight, then copy other directories then launch the upgrade process.

Installation Troubleshooting::Upgrade problem going from 2.3.3 to 2.5.10
Hacks might be a problem, I have disabled all modules but the System one.
The databases are, as you said, more or less identical, I noticed the change in password size... but figured that could not cause such a stop

At the moment I have made a fresh install of Xoops and is looking to see if I can populate it with the data from the old one in some manner, i can code so importing data from one and moving it over to the other should be ok if it needs some converting, but so far it looks to be ok

It simply wont get past that step in the process, but if there is a protector hack that might block it... then I need to figure that one out

Installation Troubleshooting::I transferred my site to another server and I have a blank page
Tocai, you didn't transfer the Website properly, because when I go to:
https://www.melitonline.org
it redirects to https://www.melitonline.net

What you should do is to first make the https://www.melitonline.org working, and then redirect the https://www.melitonline.net to it.

You should follow the steps from this tutorial:
https://xoops.gitbook.io/xoops-2-5-9-install-upgrade/

Installation Troubleshooting::Xoops restore problem
When you migratate a xoops site, you should update some options in mainfile.php.

define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/path/to/xoosROOT');

define('XOOPS_PATH', '/path/to/xoops_lib');

define('XOOPS_VAR_PATH', '/path/to/xoops_data');

define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://mydomain_OR_ip');

xoops_lib and xoops_data (do not forget this directories) by default located in the root folder but it is recommended to move out of the root.

If there are changes to the database (host dbname user etc), the xoops_data/data/secure.php should be updated with these.

If this is a public site it is useful to give us a domain.

Costas

Install your stack (i.e. XAMPP or WAMP) and make sure it is working first.

Here is a section of the installation manual dealing with moving a site:
https://github.com/XoopsDocs/xoops-2.5.9-install-upgrade/tree/master/en/book/moving

You can follow those instruction to adapt your backup files to the local environment.
