Xmspotlight 1.01 alpha SMD - How to use?

Somebody can tell me how to set and use the module Xmspotlight 1.01 alpha SMD? I installed it and nothing happens...

It feeds from the "News" module.

Go into Administration -> Modules -> xmspotlight

1. Set the number of "Categories" you want on the front page in the Preferences for the module.

2. Go into the admin for the module and you'll see one tab "News Spotlight".

Click it. Then select the "Categories" you want to be displayed.

I tried to do what you say but:
1) There is no place where I can choose the number of "categories". There is no "preferences" tab for the module
2) I selected the news and the categories and it says "story has been sppoted" but still nothing happens
3) I don't understand why the module includes the tab "General Configuration". Is it necessary?
4) In my site I have installed the News module in the front page. That's why I see no diference?

If you hold your mouse over the xm-spotlight icon, the menu will pop out and then select preferences. Or, you can just go into the module admin and then select "General Settings" from the top.

Make sure your displaying the block

You need to display the block "xm-spotlight" under blocks.

Need some help please concerning XM-Spotlight 1.02 Beta.


I have installed the module on my website, and i also use News 1.44 module on my website.

But when i activate the Xmspotlight in the BLOCKS of my webstie the whole web page does not appear (the web page -homepage is blank).

When i deactivete the Xmspotlight BLOCK, then my web page appears.

AT first i thought it was because i was using an older version on Xoops, so i changed to use XOOPS 2.0.15.

I really need help figuring this out, help will be appreciated.

Or should i change or upgrade my news mobule?

did you configure the block.?

specifying how many news categories you want to show (the block's properties) and what category to show in the block (in the tab 'news spotlight' in the xmspotlight settings)

(note: this version's preferences are different than the alpha version and the previous beta version)

My News module was actually NEW 1.1 i just intalled NEW 1.4 and the module worked perfectly.
