this is the problem, when i change a user's group, for example from user to admin, it updates in the
"xoops_groups_users_link" table
but it doesnt updates in "xoops_users" table, still saying rank 0.

any help?

Groups and ranks are not connected in the sense that changing someones group membership will change a rank (such as seen in the forums and comments) too. You will have to set the rank yourself, for special ranks anyways. Regular ranks are based on post count.

i understand that groups and ranks are seperate thing.

so do you mean i have to manually going into the database and change the user's rank to admin?

Editing a user profile through 'system admin' -> 'edit user' allows you to update both the user group and the user rank.
