I don't know if this question has been asked already, and I'm not going to waste my time looking.
New Year's Day isn't even over in my neck of the woods and we're already experiencing a bit of controversy over what may or may not be perceived as unilateral decisions and lack of communication between the dev community and the XOOPS community at large - not a big deal, but it does have some of us shaking our heads and wondering what's going on.
A couple of posts in the comments section concerning XOOPS' new theme, logo and the way they were acquired more or less stated that it's too time consuming or unwieldy to bring things like this to the community
Gotta beg to differ, guys, but I kinda think that doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense. Makes no sense at all really, considering the polling and survey modules available - neither of which have ever been used to my recollection.
I'm not suggesting that XOOPS allows everyone the general community to start creating their own polls or surveys; that would be a nightmare. But, I believe that the moderators should be allowed to post relevant polls or surveys whenever something that involves the entire community arises. Set a deadline on the voting, limit it to registered members, blah blah blah. It would probably save a lot of headaches in the end.
