Tried to intergrade Flash chat.. didnt work so well.. I deleted the chat and still have the links.. Dont know how to remove them... any help is appreciated..

this is supposedly added as a block but I do NOT see the block any where on the block admin page

How did you delete this module? Any error messages were given? Also try to change SystemAdmin->Blocks menu from TopPage to different, maybe it's in another specific page. Remember, some info might be needed in order to help you.
