I'm new to XOOPS and hats off to everyone involved with developement. However, having spent the last few years experimenting with most other php boards...IMHO IPB being the king...the forum module is seriously lacking. As I said, for content management, XOOPS is great! But for an instance, the ability for users to upload images and the admin/mod being able to control uploads. In short, the forum module needs ALOT more work.

Re: forum module

What version are you using? Newbb2 allows you to set upload permissions and mimes. And great control over group permissions.

I'm using 2.0.9.2
per my example, user's don't have the ability to upload/post images from their machine, only from the image manager or from a remote site. Unless I'm missing something. This feature is important to me.

The forum that comes with 2.0.9.2 isa newbb version 1 that may not have that option.

Newbb 2 has the ability to attach files to the posts.

I've updated newbb from 1 to 2 and file uploads working fine, however I had to maually add an empty "newbb" directory to the uploads directory for it to work. Not sure if I performed the update routines described in the readme_first.txt file correctly; just reporting what I had to do. So, I stand corrected! Much more flexible than I originally thought. Suggestion: package the newbb2 with the final XOOPS version.
Again, thanks!
