The SmartFactory and XOOPS.org Firefox Search PluginsFellow XOOPSers ! I know some of you already did this in the past for previous version of Firefox but I thought I could share this anyway with you again for the latest Firefox 2.0 release ! I have created a Firefox search engine plugin for The SmartFactory, FRXOOPS.org and another one for XOOPS.org. In summary, this means that you would be able, at any time, to search either one of these sites using Firefox search box ! These plugins uses the Open Search description format for search plugins. Plugins that use the OpenSearch description syntax are compatible with IE 7 and Firefox. Because of this, they are now the recommended format for use on the web.
You can easily install these plugins by downloading them here. Please note that you need to already have Firefox 2.0 for these plugins to work. Once a search plugin has been created for a site, one can easily add a single line in the head tag of the site to indicated to Firefox that this site has a Search Plugin that can be used. I have already done that in The SmartFactory so if you did not yet installed its Search Plugin, you can see this when going to our site :

I agree that it is not 100% clear, but if you the site you are in has a search plugin and that you did not yet installed it, the little search icon will be surrounded in blue, meaning that you can install a new Search Plugin :

So here it is ! I hope it can be of some help ! Cheers !
