I've did all of my translations for XOOPS, Impress and Joomla with the easiest tool ever -- NotePad + (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net).
On Vista looks like unfinished something with nice icon, nothing more. Xtranslate load and parse the files and there ends. Just nothing.

Got VISTA Home premium 64b here and it works like a charm.
Tool doesn't use any external files or resources, its all baked into the one executable.
Re: Translation tool : XtranslateI also do not see the advantage of this tool. I use dreamweaver for translating but as said in the previous post, notepad will do the job also.
There was a module called language tool, I don't know if it still works in current XOOPS but it worked great. Advantage was you did not delete the line you where translating as in a normal editor. You also had the translation online immediately, very handy when finetuning a translation in conjunction with the module pages itself

I myself used UltraEdit for translations, but I wanted a tool that would only show me the exact phrase or line that needs to be translated, one by one. Not having to go through two windows to set my cursor and stuff. This tool does it all for ya.
Next step will be adding Google translations; Quick Clipboard editor and if needed.. an online version that would put the file online where you need/want it. It will also insert the translators info into the beginning of the file.
Xtranslate has aleady gone through a major change since the newspost above, but again use it if you want it or stick with notepad.
