XOOPS: XOOPS Website is going live with XOOPS 2.3

As they say, you should eat yourself what you cook, therefore we are pleased to let you know that we've updated the XOOPS Website to XOOPS 2.3!!!

This will allow you now to use the new Private Messaging module, i.e. you'll be able to save your PM messages that you send.

Also, the new Extended DHTML is now standard for all comments and Forums.

If you discover any problems or anomalies, please let us know.

FYI - the update was relatively painless, all the modules work fine, and we didn't lose any blocks. We've upgraded from XOOPS 2.0.18.2

PHP Version - 5.2.5
MySQL Version - 5.0.51a-log

Great to see. The site seams faster now (specially generating pages)

I have two sites running 2.3.0 with mylinks and PHP5.
Mylinks don't work
Have You done anything specially, You want to share?

I didn't touch MyLinks. Actually, the last time it was compiled, was almost one year ago.

The version number is 1.1. If you have something different, I'll be glad to email you what we have here.

We use PHP Version - 5.2.5

I have tryed both 1.1 and 1.11 (found in the forum)
It would be nice if you sent your version. I will then reply in this forum if that works.
(there are no errors in debug-mode)

@anderssk : you should try this version (n°1.11, ready for PHP5). It works for me on XOOPS 2.3. There is another version here, but not tested yet (screenshots available in blocks, if I have well understood)

Thanks to mamba, the mylinks works now.
Don't now what was wrong, but I think it was a browser problem (Microsoft will probably say that it was not.)

Were the files different from what you had? If yes, can you run file comparison test to see which one were different from the versions that you had?

No, thats was it.
The error was, that when I was selecting the Links in the usermenu, I get the frontpage.
No submenu's etc.

1. there is some missing menu in the left navigation..eg XOOPS awards etc

Good suggestion about the profile elements - I'll make them private.

xoops.org looks and feels like more faster than before..

eermmm is this a new rule ...guest can't view profile and user can see other user preferences in the profile once their log in..

I think, for privacy reasons, it would be better if only registered users would see profiles. That's how most other forums work.

Any comments on that?

but why? What are the reasons besides convenience that you don't have to log in to see somebody's profile? Remember, with 2.3, you can stay logged in, so there no need to constantly logging in, and being automatically logged out.

because some people like to follow posts from specific users, and they may not be able to login or want to login just to read posts, but with profiles disabled, the user can no longer goto the users profile page and see his/her latest posts or submissions.

not all user want to login or not all visitor want to register just to see a user profile

for me most of the time i will not login unless i have to post something...a page without guest restriction are also
good for site search engine rank...
