I am happy to announce the Release Candidate (RC) of version 1.0 of the EFQ directory module. EFQ directory is a module that allows webmasters to manage yellow pages like directories within their XOOPS installations. Because it uses customizable data fields, the administrator can set up custom made directories and categories.

I hope this module will be appreciated and that with your help this module can become of better value to you. The first focus will be on solving bugs and issues though.

The quotes were missing in this SQL statement

To solve this problem, download the module again (version 3) and try to install it. If the problem still persists, please let me know

I added a new download to both dev.xoops.org and www.efqdirectory.com.

Also I updated the version number in this new release, since it was still 0.19 instead of 1.

The main differences are:

- Custom field types
- Easy to assign one listing to multiple categories
- Multiple directories in one module

Installing Listings directory

You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8' at line 5

Vimana,

Go into the mysql file and look for:

CREATE TABLE `efqdiralpha1_item_text` (
`itemid` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`description` text NOT NULL,
KEY `itemid` (`itemid`)
) TYPE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

Remove: DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8

Then save the file and try to install.

After I press Ok to submit a coupon:

The search does not seems to run.

Note, I'm using Php 5.2

Great module! The flexible fields per category is a remarkable feature. I can see that this will be a very useful module.

I was, however, disappointed to see that there is only one available block. This is surprising in a module of this class. What are your plans as to blocks?

This is definitely a module in motion. I can imagine some purposes for blocks such as the obvious random listing or most popular listings. What blocks do you see fit in this module as a standard feature?

I found an example just now, when there is a directory with listings that only have a title and description, the search does not find any rows because it also looks in the data table. I will modify the query to correct this problem. I solved the coupon problem as well and will add another release shortly.

Then maybe some kind of coupon block(s) like Recent Coupons or All Current Coupons (with images), and maybe also a Spotlight block.

Flexible and interesting ways of displaying the directory content is almost as important as the content itself.

Hi Mamba,

Can you please turn on the debug functionality in your XOOPS installation and see what errors are reported (if any) and please add when the errors occur, on which page or on which action?

Debug is on, but no errors reported. Just a blank screen when I try to go there.

Anybody else with similar problems?

Did you tried to update the module?
Sometime, after you empty the "template_c" folder, for some module the templates doesn't recreate itself. After updateing the module, seems to work again.

Indeed updating this module in your administration panel is required, since template files have been modified in RC2.

The modules uses the default DHTML editor that comes with XOOPS. I don't believe you can add a swf file to it by default, perhaps if you allow html, it should be possible...

I've updated the module.

When I don't have any directories, then I'm getting a message that I don't have directories, so the module is working. But when I add a category, and refresh the main screen, the screen goes blank.

I cannot seem to reproduce the problem on my test systems. I also tested on PHP version 5.05, apache handler 2.0, but all seems to work fine. Normally in case of a blank screen without errors I would insert echo messages in the code to see which part of the page causes the problem, eg:


echo 'test 1';

I have test your module. I think is great, even if is place for improvements. Custom fields feature is realy great, offers the posibility af customisation and this is realy cool. (still is somewhere an unclosed div tag I think, I have to check it out why it breaks my layout)
Olso, I have to figure how subscription works? And cupons too. even if I think won't gonna use it, is good to have this feature.

I think some strigs are missing in blocks language file.

I have been working with EFQ a little and have identified a couple of problem areas where either I do not know how to do something, or it is a bug. It seems, however, that this is not the place to post the questions.

Shouldn't we start a thread in the forums to carry on this discussion?

So far, I LOVE this module! The advanced search routine which incorporates field parameters is super! I will be using both EFQ Directory and MX Directory.

I am not sure if I getting how this works. What is the purpose of coupons? Is it possible to charge people to submit listings? How is it possible to associate a subscription with a listing? Is there any documentation for this module?
