The EPC module development team is proud to announce the immediate availability of xhelp 0.7, encompassing several feature requests and bug fixes. All users are recommended to upgrade to the latest version.

New Features:
Email Ticket Submission
Flexible Staff Permission Roles By Department
Improved Form Validation for ticket/response submission
Overdue Ticket Time
PHP 5 Support

Module Purpose
xhelp is designed as a user-friendly helpdesk application for the XOOPS portal system.

Installation Requirements
XOOPS 2.0.6+

Enabling Email Support Requires adds these requirements:
POP3 Email account(s)
Ability to create a cron job or scheduled task

The comments are owned by the author. We aren't responsible for their content.

If you are using a custom template set from 0.6 you'll find that much of the text labels do not display in the xhelp pages. You'll need to regenerate the xhelp templates from the defaults for it to function properly.

i´m getting a blank page on every try to change an existing ticket (even on delete). i turned on debugging and found this:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /srv/www/htdocs/dsde2/modules/xhelp/ticket.php on line 59
any ideas on that?

does this happen on every ticket, or is this isolated to certain tickets? Also what is your platform specific information? what type of server, version of PHP, etc.

that´s happening on my local testing-system. it seems to be happening on every single ticket. i made some for testing, and they all seem to have the problem. the server is a suse linux 9.0 box with php 4.3.3 installed.

can you turn on mysql debugging - lets see if there is a query failing at the db.

i don´t get an output there, just the blank page without the usual mysql-debuginfo...

REALLY GOOD Module

I like the Email Support Feature!

Works perfect, but the EMail Activation do not work for users without account (NO Link inside the EMail only the Text Variable from xoops)

Great I module of support and it already comes also with the translation for the Portuguese of the brasil, and this available for download in www.xoops.pr.gov.br

and we put a special topic for the xhelp for discussion on the same in Portuguese of the Brasil participate

thanks for the great module.
i get this when i update module:


ERROR: Could not insert template xhelp_staff_viewall.html to the database.

i remove custom template but still have this problem.i send it to bug tracker
just one more thing:
in persian language we use UTF-8 charset so every chracter needs 2 bytes in db and all fields must be doubles to work properly.
for example department name only accept 35 bytes in this time and for UTF-8 charset it allows only 35/2= 17 chracters.very short for us.should i send it as a feature to dev site?
btw this module is very important for every site want to have perfect support and works smooth for me.i update from .6 to .7 without any problem.

lang files add to the main package in dev site

sounds like xhelp_staff_viewall.html could be corrupt, could you try re-uploading it? What version of XOOPS?

UTF-8: you might try using mysql 4.1, which properly accounts for unicode string lengths. To be honest I am only repeating what I read on mysql's dev site today, I have never had the opportunity to set up a mySQL db using UTF-8 as its default collation.

Society - In addition to my earlier question I created a bug report to keep track of this issue easier. I'd prefer that responses be added to this bug report so that others having the same problem can find it.

That I want to see in future:
Better intergation with existing on site user's groups... I.e - instead of creating Departments and staffs from scratch I'll be happy to have possibility "link group to department" - sites can have functional groups with predefined roles, and instead of duplicatiing we can use these (some or all) groups.
Any comments?

LazyBadger - I am afraid you will be disappointed in the future, as making departments seperate from the XOOPS groups was an intentional design decision. Would it be appropriate to have a Registered Users department for example? Your idea to assign department membership from a XOOPS group has merit, however, and one that we will consider implementing in the future.

help desk is a user support not group support.
users can send their requests to departments.
this is totally differnt from XOOPS in groups and notifications and everything. IMHO this module must go its way independent of XOOPS system

Fantastic mod, great work. Is the upload facility for all files or just a text file. I have tried uploading a word doc but the file never arrives?

You'll need to go to xhelp Admin -> Mimetype Management and enable the file extensions you want to allow as file uploads.

Just wanted to compliment the developers of this module. Excellent work!

I've integrated this module into a IT Program site I'm developing for the college I work at. (Look for a formal YAXS announcement this summer.) It's truly mind boggling how usefull this module is.
