Thx for placing file in your downloads. However, I prefer you link not directly to file but to the singlefile.php on my website (or, if you absolutely want, visit.php).
I prefer to know how many people downloaded the module, and, I do like to know what is taking my bandwith...

there doesn't seem to have a limit on the post. users can just go on and on and on flooding continously.
Maybe set time limit for each post or character limit?
2nd thing, it would be nice if its stored in sql. I hope to log everything that has been posted. I have been using one shoutbox for 2 years and i still can trace back the msgs that has been posted back then.
Where is the msgs stored anyway, i can't seem to find them.

Re: Shoutbox 2.0 RC1Thank you taking on this task. This has been a useful module on my site. We don't use it as a chat replacement but as a handy quick messenger to replace forum posts that would go stale after being read one time.
One thing I would like to see is to have URLs that are shouted to appear as a link instead of text. Most users are clueless about [url=....] or won't remember to use it.
An important feature on my site would be to have the Clear button visable to a selected group instead of only admin. I hacked in a query to do this but is a pain and maybe not the most efficient but I really needed it.
Since I wouldn't open the shoutbox to anon users I'm happy make it as efficient and bandwidth friendly as possible. I don't need long term storage of the text or anything like that.
I haven't looked too closely at the new code but hope that options like presenting avatars and PM/Email/WWW links are admin options. In the past I hacked the popup file to eliminate those. Just the text and username is all I'd need.
Thanks again for bringing this module back to life.

I am currently using a 3rd party script called floodbox developed by floodboy.net Unfortunately, the developer no longer supports this script. So can say its good but its old. Left few bugs haunting the script.It doesn't use sql but just use a simple file.dat to store all the post. I use iframe in the custom XOOPS block for the shoutbox. I do hope the some of the functions of other shoutbox can be ported into this one.

In the futher:
- Flood filter
- Port to sql (I'm not sure about it but...)
- Edit/Remove shouts
And in case somebody doesn't find the shout file, it's in uploads/shoutbox/...

Shoutbox is a block and a popup. Since there is no main, it should be set invisible. This is done by System Admin - Modules and settings height to zero.

What version of XOOPS are you running? Does the file uploads/shoutbox/shout.csv exists? If not, something wrong must have happend during install, or XOOPS messed up somewhere... Weird.

The shoutbox is working fine for everyone. But the warning message appears for Anonymous users that prevents them to see the webpage from any IE brouser less than v6.0.
Cant say anything about firefox. Coz my whole site is messed up ehen viewing with FireFox.
