I created a small module a while back to allow users to store up to 10 links in a block to be used as a sort-of personal favorites menu. A few different people asked me to release this module to the public, which I now have. The script is installable like any other module, and has its own block that needs activated and given certain rights to. Make sure that Anon users don't have access to this block. If you have any probs with the module, please feel free to post on the site.

Must i register just to get the module?
Possible to upload into xoops.org?

This is a very nice module. Altough not everything is working flawlessly, it is very usable.

A while back I was thinking about a module that would allow users to click on a button to add that location to a favorites menu. That button would be displayed on any page within the website (or in the favorites block). It would simply save the current url. I might take a look at that in the near future, using your module.

Feel free to hack it as you like it... :) I have a few different ideas on that also, as far as the save to favs menu. You are correct, not everything works like I would like it to. If I remember right, postnuke had something very similar to this in that it allowed you to save a list of links.

Second to catscity, can you make it publicly available?

I don’t mind to register. But the registration requirement would just create many "one-use" accounts and later on they have to be purged from database. Hope you re-consider.

Tim, here we go ...

Have you thought of adding another identical section called "My notes" saves a note in plain text and displays its title. Click the title and you open the note in a popup or something.???

You'll end up with a an online organiser for XOOPS at this rate...Mmmmm (thinking hard here)

You can download it from there. The main reason for the registration is to allow users to try-before-buy ... only this is a freebie :)

have not found the scripts so no idea about this one.

The xoops-notification has bookmark reserved and available in modules that set
$modversion['notification']['...'][...]['allow_bookmark'] = 1;.
not take action yet.

xfaccount has a personal page management system with bookmark and is expected to be expanded.

seems a bookmark is coming

Was lazy to login my email account because of the !@#!%!@#! slow login.

I tested it.
and its good. More advancement and mod can be made to the module.

i'm trying the nice module on your site,
but just question.
it would not be envisagable to store the infos in the data base and not in a file?
because if I see the list of the members, I do not have any more but to ask for the file in the name of the member like that for example:http://www.tswn.com/modules/myxlinks/cache/<userName>.html

In this way, the links are not really personal.
could the database possibly store the reference corresponding in the name of the htmlfile of the user that can be a random number? so, it will be a little more private. ?
what do you think about it ?

Well I got it working.... the database driven one...

I had to develope this in dreamweaver, and those of you who use it know that it creates its own connection strings.... I have to go back through the code to get the strings to work with xoops. That shouldn't take too long, but you never really know........

I have added more features to this module, and I think it is ready for an initial beta test. Please check out this presentation I whipped up and you can then make your decision upon that.

This is great module.
There are just few things I'd like to see here.

1. Presently it's possible to show only 10 favorite links. Is it possible to show more?

2. If I set up 5 different links and show it let's say on the top page the module shows all 10 lines (5 I’ve set up + rest 5 lines for other links). Is it possible to control how many links I want to show (1, 2, 3 ...) and rest keep hidden!?

Actually, there is going to be a major update to this module very very soon!! The one that you probably have has the links written to actual html files, which with the BRAND NEW version, everything will be stored in the database. If you would like to see it in action, please hit this site
