To display your own html or php pages intergrated to Xoops.
Beginning from version v2.9.0 Freecontent implements a URL Rewriting function allowing subsequent local urls to be also showed in Xoops.

Smarty cache, Search and Xoops native comments.
Tutorial included.
XHTML compliant wrapping method.
Compatible with register_globals off.

Search doesn't work.
The module gets searched but no results are found.
Not event titles.

A great module other wise.

As Freecontent never saves your sources in XOOPS DB for evident efficiency reasons, search is done for titles and subjects that YOU should enter when setting freecontent connections.

this function sounds nice, but I did not understand it completely. can you explain this feature more in detail?

It is an "on the fly rewritting" of links so that pages originaly linked together will be STILL linked together when showing in Freecontent.

I hope this is understandable.

Yes, you are right, thank you.

I just uploaded v2.9.1 that fixed some bugs and add the possibility to disable the url rewritting function.

Very nice module, I like the re-write function

Would it be possible to change the address that appears in the browser? i.e

http://mysite/modules/freecontent

This can give users the idea the website is providing some freebies etc. Or they may think I am announcing that my content is free.

Or they may also think I am getting my content free from another third party site.

And, not a big deal to me--open source is certainly free, but it is an entirely different concept from many of the "free" offers that are "not really free" if you get my meaning. GPL and "freeware" is an entirely different world.

I also do not want visitors to get the idea my coming content is "Tiny"..:)

I tried changing the name of the directory and the directory name in xoops_version.php, and the path in config.php, but many of the paths must be hardcoded in.

Sorry if I seem fussy..Nice module..:)

I'm going to be converting this site to Xoops...

and FreeContent would be great for one section that requires little maintenance. But the site already has an obvious footer for each page.

Having the credit to FreeContent listed also is going to make the design a mess.

Per the GPL:

6. Each time you redistribute the Program (or any work based on the Program), the recipient automatically receives a license from the original licensor to copy, distribute or modify the Program subject to these terms and conditions. You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein.

So, you may remove the footer. If someone wants to require the display of a footer, they need to pick a different license other than the GPL.
