Hey, i just installed xoops for the first time, and was having problems with the email not being sent to registered users. In my Email setup settings there are quite a lot of blank fields, how am i supposed to do this? I only know html and just a little bit of everything else. I would appreciate if someone would guide me through this. Do i have to ask something from my hosting provider?

Thanks for answering. Yes i have. I have these fields filled with my information:

FROM address ...
FROM name ...
FROM user ...
Email delivery method: PHP mail()

My address is gmail, is that wrong? If yes, what kind of address can i use in it?

Try to use your domain in the FROM field instead of gmail.com and see if it works.
It's good to set the default as "noreply@yourdomain.com" This way people know where it came from, but they will not reply and send you spam

I think, I recall somewhere that this was the recommend way, so the domain and your email match.

If the change of email address doesn't help, you might also check with your Host, to make sure that the email is working properly from the server perspective. Sometime it is the server fault, and not XOOPS...

Yeah i think it's on their side. But they answered like this: "We would need the exact locations of php scripts that are not working properly in order to eliminate these issues for you, could you please provide us with them? Which php file is being used for user registration? Thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this issue. Should you need more information, please don't hesitate to contact us."

Do you have any idea what should i provide them?
Edit: Problem was solved using noreply@yourdomain.com

I just saw instructions for making Gmail your outbound mail server. Read the "How to configure outbound email settings?" section in:
