2.5.7 install problem

Freebsd 9.2 system with apache 2.2 php5.5 and mysql 5.0 I believe. It's a local system. Freebsd ports installs xoops into /usr/local/www and give's a document root directive for httpd.conf.

When I run the install, I cannot get past document root as it doesn't recognize the directory in step 4. It does find the data and library directory's. xoops directory is 777 for now as is the uploads and cache directories. apache runs as www.www and there is no reason it can't write to the directories.

I also attempted to move this to another location. Changed httpd.conf so it pointed to another directory that had the htdocs contents installed to it. I've tried the getcwd() script's and footpath scripts they all indicate the correct directory /usr/local/www/apache22/data/hcrcc which is exactly where everything was installed.

In the /extras directory there is a "mainfile.php" file. Copy this to your XOOPS directory, set the permissions for this file to 777, and start the installation again.

Make sure that all the required folders (like the /uploads, etc.) have also the 777 permissions.

just tried that again. I tried bypassing the directory check by editing install/include/page.php after adding several define()'s to common.inc.php. bypassing will get me through the database install but then cycles back to the start at language selection.

Why don't you copy the "mainfile.php" file from the /extras directory to your XOOPS directory, and start the install again, as I've suggested above?

I did attempt the mainfile.php into the xoops directory and I made sure it was 777

this is weird. I deleted everything, untar'd 2.5.7 and attempted the install again. It failed again same as before. I also put mainfile.php into the xoops directory and same thing. this was to make sure that ports on freeBSD wasn't patching any files.

however, checksum.php shows a bunch of missing files in the root directory. So, I downloaded 2.5.6 and installed it. started up the browser and it immediately went through the install and XOOPS is now running.

The missing files are missing from the tar ball. I'd have to check where 2.5.7 was downloaded from by "make install" in /usr/ports/www/xoops was all I used to get it.

I'm going to attempt to upgrade to 2.5.7 now and we'll see how that goes.

after everything was running, I copied the entire htdocs directory contents over top of my running 2.5.6 install. it works.
