Big thanks to core team for hard work on X2.6

I have some idea about new core modules :

Menu
my menu is very good module for manage menus. I have just two suggestions for improve it

1- please add option for disable module skins in theme. in some themes we have to use external skin
2- use jquery ui sortable in menu admin page

Comments
We need new comment system like WP. 2 point is important
1- Guests user can add his name / email / website and show his name in comment list
2- Use gravatar.com
3- remove comment bar and add comment submit form

Notifications
Add sms Notification option

Profile
Add login and register multi level, like google . for example admin confirm login whit sms and have multi level register whit confirm sms and email

And remove pm and profile options from core files.

RSS feed , sitemap and json
existing rss system is too old. I suggestion add general rss template in system module and add some class for build rss feed for modules easily. and add general rss feed for core

And add sitemap.xml maker in core whit manage options it.s important for seo
And if we have class for work whit output / input json informations is very good

I would prefer using social media profiles and openid, wp has some nice plugin examples doing that.

I agree with flipse. Also gravatar isn't really something in trend. "Login via FB or Twitter to comment" option would be preferable but not necessary. Instead Quote:
3- remove comment bar and add comment submit form
is a must to have feature nowadays in my and many other people opinion. This has been talked over many many times.

If you investigate codes in the latest svn you can see new modules in xoops 2.6 is just a beginning. I mean core team just separate some parts from system module to move forward to a more modular way. There are really a lot of works remained.
These new modules/extensions are very simple with no additional feature.
Also many of them still have large dependencies on core. for example there is a "xcaptcha" extension but the captcha in register page will work with or without install that xcaptcha. the captcha class is still in core.

As trabis said the core team will add features in the next step. We will see soon.

I think it is ready to release as Alpha 2.

Adding a theme manager in the system module.

- This section allows you to manage themes like modules so you can install, uninstall, or disable a theme.
- We can of course add a few settings in the theme (eg. Logo, size, etc. ..) and all these settings will be visible in the theme.

We need to remove the hardcoded dependencies on core. Work is in progress.

Another editor for comments that I use in the news, is livefyre which also incorporates the bar of social networks

Why don't you write a tutorial on how to add livefyre to XOOPS Modules (with News as an example). This could help some people...
