I created a module using trabis's dummy module.

Is there a way to get that module to open in a new window, so that left column menu and login doesn't show?

You can specify in the Menu and Login blocks that you don't want to show them in the "Dummy module".

So when you open the "Dummy" module, regardless whether it is a current window, or a new one, these blocks will not be visible.
