And why would you use GoDaddy, instead of Arvixe, with a special XOOPS discount?

This website runs on Arvixe, and I have tons of my personal and my clients' Website on Arvixe, and they all run very well, with no problems.

You go to Arvixe, and they install XOOPS for you, and it's working out of the box! It doesn't get easier than that. And for $3.20/month, it's a steal!

Listen to Mamba.
And this needs to be set to OFF: "allow_url_fopen On"

I run my site on Arvixe servers and so far am satisfied with their service.
Insist on a secure php.ini configuration as it does not come that way as a default for some unknown reason.

Has anyone had experience with godaddy?
Is it their severs?
Is it something that needs to be changed in maybe in cpanel to allow php mail?

Re: mail not working

I have a client with a couple of XOOPS sites on godaddy. The sites are fairly low volume, and mail works fine using the PHP mail option. The 'from address' is set to a godaddy hosted mail address (or alias) in all cases.

The client has one of the virtual server packages, not just a simple hosting plan, so there could be differences between offerings.

I would try godaddy support, as it should work.
