With XOOPS 2.5.6, we could read :

Quote:
Upgrading from 2.5.x:
-----------------------------------
1. Get the right update package from the sourceforge file repository
2. Overwrite files in XOOPS directory on your server with the content of /htdocs
* make sure that you copy the content of /xoops_lib to whatever directory you keep it on the server now (it should be your current XOOPS_TRUST_PATH directory), then delete the /xoops_lib directory. There can NOT be two directories with the content of /xoops_lib
3. Update the "System" module from the modules administration interface, as well as "Profile", "PM", and "Protector", as they have new GUI.
4) Clear caches, using the Admin's Maintenance function

Upgrading from versions older than 2.5.0:

Now, in 2.5.7, we could read :
Quote:
Upgrading from 2.5.6 to 2.5.7 Final:

3. Go to www.yoursite.com/upgrade and run the Upgrade from there. Once done, delete the folder /upgrade
4. If not done as part of the Upgrade above, run Update af the the "System" module from the modules administration interface. Other modules, especially "Profile", "PM", and "Protector" are recommended to update as well

Upgrading from previous versions older than 2.5.6 (Full Update):

It means that a XOOPS 2.5.4, 2.5.3 dont update like 2.5.6 ?
True ?

It's a little bit different because we have shifted some of the directories (e.g. /images to /assets in both /pm and /profile modules).

Let me write exact instructions for it...

It should be done later today...

Alain, I have uploaded the file "xoops2.5.6-to-2.5.7.zip"

You can use it to upgrade existing XOOPS 2.5.6 installation to XOOPS 2.5.7. Just follow the instructions in the file:

README_UPGRADE_TO_2.5.7.txt

If you have older versions than 2.5.6, you can either upgrade one by one to XOOPS 2.5.6 (which people have done already, since 2.5.6 is already for colse to 1 year around), or you can copy all files from XOOPS 2.5.7, and then run:

/upgrade
/update of System, PM, Profile, and Protector modules

Let me know if the instructions in the document are clear enough...

That is the plan, but, the needs of the XOOPS community ultimately dictate that. If the situation arises that we need a 2.5.8, we will have one. But for now, it is full steam ahead on 2.6.0.

Great!

A clarification!

In the class kernel/objects.php exists a function destoryVars is a bug, or should this be so?

It seems to me that it should be destroyVars, based on the comments above /*unset variable(s) for the object*/!

Is nonsense but a typo may be puzzled some user if so.

If it was a small bug, that has been handed down by various versions of xoops see also xoops 2.5.5

You obviously didn't download the just released Final version of XOOPS 2.5.7

you would see there following code:

/**
     * @deprecated use destroyVars() instead
     */

function destoryVars($var)
    {
        return
$this->destroyVars($var);
    }
