hi all. what's the status of 2.2.x developement? i haven't heard anything in a while. i keep wanting to downgrade but have been holding out. thanks for any tips / links.

The last planned version - 2.2.5 - is due in the near future.

There is a rc version at sourceforge, if you wish to try - but I'd advise a backup of site and data first.

From what I understand, things are progressing nicely.

I know we'll probably keep seeing a whole load of these messages as you do every year.

I think the key here is to not push for a date or even estimate, as if they don't meet it, then all you get is people moaning. I feel we should let them take their time, quality is better than a quick release by far.

thanks for the update. the version i'm using now for my site works great with no problems. i'm in no hurry and love the idea of the developers taking their time. i'd much rather wait for good code anyday than get something buggy now. i was just curious.

i may play around with the rc this weekend if i get the time.

It's been at RC2 status for a while... has anyone submitted any reports to the Sourceforge site?

I've certainly not seen any feedback from users there ....

ok but don't marvel is other cms wins award and XOOPS not...

for me the developer of the XOOPS core is too slow ...

but i mean the developer team are a great team and great programmer...

thats because development is prioritised for XOOPS 2.3/2.4 and the 2.0.x branch.

you always knew 2.2.x would get less development than the rest, so why complain now?

and as david says, it's at RC status, if nobody is reporting bugs or even providing feedback to the devs regarding it, how the hell do they know if it's working correctly or not? do they just make it final as is? or do they wait for proper feedback?

i'm pretty sure people would complain further if they released as is and it turned out to be buggy again because those same users haven't provided feedback at all (and i mean provided feedback in the correct channels) go look at the bug tracker, see what bugs are open and then go see if 2.2.5rc2 has those bugs or not. let the devs know if they have correctly fixed those bugs or not and maybe 2.2.5 final will come along a lot quicker.

if u visit the space of XOOPS on sf.net , u'll have an impression that the XOOPS project had been halted, only a few threads in the core forum, the last post is 3 weeks ago
the last update on the 2.3.x branches is 8 months ago, and it has been 2months since the realease of 2.2.5-rc2.

if XOOPS still move forward so slow, it will lost more and more
