Please post your comments about improvement ideas/recommendations for 2009 XOOPS Web redesign:

* We need to be as constructive as possible
* Please provide links to "Best Practices" and examples
* Please volunteer for tasks, like:
- updating/reorganizing FAQ
- updating/reorganizing Wiki
- updating/reorganizing Module Repository
- updating/reorganizing Theme Gallery

We had some discussions in the past, so if you find something that was already discussed, please provide us with links to the respective threads/messages.

Together we'll make a difference, but we need your help, involvement, and support!

Do you have a listing of the modules and the version you are currently using?

The French XOOPS team have a good list here.

... I'm working on this point right now. I'll show you a new version in two or three days

I'm not skilled (programmation) to do all ... but I hope this update will be an improvement.
Still learning CSS and... english

Here's a nice example of how I think a top page could look (though I'd change the color scheme to something less dark)

Can the site be made to show replies to our posts when we click on our name?

Currently we get a list of all the posts we have made.

However, we do not get an indication if there are any replies by that method.

Guys at THIS LINK
I show my Idea for new xoops.org design.

In my opinion, it is important to give a new look at xoops.org (in addition to reorganize the contents of course) to encourage new users. Honestly I think that the site should be a concentrate of all what XOOPS can do, to offer to those who has never used a comprehensive view of what is XOOPS.

Talking with some colleagues I realized that at the same benefits (even I do not know well) Joomla has more users because it is immediately appealing. What's more, there was certainly a marketing study that has driven joomla more about than other even better CMS.

I am fond of XOOPS and not changing my cms, and are willing to give my contribution (for graphics) if you like.

i think there is no reason for xoops.org not to use your design...this redesign should be done as soon as possible..

Why the rush? Let's have a good discussion, let's see other ideas, other designs, and then let's make it happen. There is more to it than just the design. We need to think about splitting the Website into subdomains, such as modules, themes, community/support, possibly demo, etc.

I like the design, but let's hear from other people.

One thing for sure - we need a horizontal menu on top

Personally I would like to see a "slide show" on top as well, showing the best of XOOPS features. I recall that Trabis was working on it.

But let's focus on the structure first.

It is provided for to also re-examine the design of each sub-site.
On the other hand, I think that the wiki is integrated in that of Documentation, therefore:
A) XOOPS (https://xoops.org)
B) support (http://support.xoops.org)
C) topics (http://themes.xoops.org)
D) Modules (http://addons.xoops.org)
E) Development (http://dev.xoops.org)
F) Documentation (http://docs.xoops.org) with Wiki (sub-site of documentation)

Concerning the designs, it is necessary to know that the contents (and thus modules used) can be different between the sites, for example xoops.org, theme.xoops.org, addons.xoops.org (or modules.xoops.org) and docs.xoops.org will not have members if it is not the team of the site.
There will be a forum only on support.xoops.org, perhaps on dev.xoops.org.
Certain sites do not need the columns (or right one on certain pages), etc…
