I hope I understood correctly that OT posts were acceptable here. I was told in a PHP forum that there are a lot of Japanese speakers in the XOOPS community that know PHP.

We need someone like this to help us with a translated web site. Theproject will start in the fall, consists of maybe 50 short files of PHP mixed with HTML text. The existing text is to be repolaced with a translation furnished by a specialist.

I downloaded XOOPS and installed it and it is quite interesting. I hope to have more time to learn about it soon.

Ironically, I posted here first using Firefox and it didn't work.

I'd love to travel the world looking at all the community forums, but obviously that'll take too much time.

Please, if any of you know people or that are both competant and interested by this, copy the message to them or get them to come read it here in this fine forum.

a suggestion... why don't u open topic at japanese community. because most of japanese developer not read/write in english. *i believe*. so, if u open a topic there, probability for them to read and reply u is high. just my 2 cent...

or GiJoe at http://peak.ne.jp/xoops
or NobuNobu at http://www.kowa.org
All of them work with XOOPS and do English. I don't know if they do work on the side or not.

I also have a friend Richard who does English/Japanese Bilingual sites at: http://www.mackstar.com.

Heh, thanks for that, I forgot to mention, I don't speak or write Japanese at all! That's why I'm posting here.

We have a couple of "candidates" now, so maybe I won't need extras, but if anyone is interested in this work, please do contact me.

By the way, the forum really doesn't want to work with Firefox, I've now tried it in two locations, cookies are allowed and all, but it isn't working right for me. I have MSIE, which I used to post here, but yuch! Some of the templates don't look good in FF either (can you say "horizontal scroll"?).

Just for info, in passing.

99.9% of the time I'm using Firefox. Either from linux box or Windows and never had ANY problems with how templates look on xoops.org

Now I understand what it mean.

Xoops dot com looks like a north american quote, that said:
"America for North Americans".

Xoops is a "Software in english" for "english speakers".

The templates are currently being looked at in detail for CBB

No, it is common sense.

If you are looking for someone, who knows Japanese, the best bet is naturally to ask in a Japanese community. The number of Japanese-speaking people is higher there than here.
