I think a Elgg / XOOPS bridge would be absolutely awesome.

Will be checking back with interest.

I give full respect to xoops, I think the community and the product is tops.

My issue was simply I needed a Social Platform, I moved to Elgg
as it is made for social networking.

Elgg can be joined to joomla but not to XOOPS yet.

From my experience with yogurt I thought it had almost all I needed but after playing around with elgg, Yogurt is o.k but would need a lot of work to do the same things.

But as a cms XOOPS is very good, maybe a bridge to Elgg ??
That would make me very happy.

But then the work needed for such a thing could be a lot.
Joomla have a module called Jconnect which joins Elgg to Joomla.

But I would still prefer Xoops.

I wish all of you the very best and I will look back from time to time.

Yogurt is Dead, no real support and no plans for future development, sadly I had to move to another cms for this reason. I still think XOOPS is awesome but for my needs I had no choice but to move.

Hi, all it has come to the point where yogurt just was not going to be enough for my social network and so I was forced to find something better, I found ELGG, currently ELGG does not really integrate with anything well, Joomla have nearly done it, and pretty much no Forum hooks into it either.

I think there is a good case for XOOPS to ELGG integration, something that could do this would be very beneficial to XOOPS in my opinion.

ELGG is a very good social network system but it has big gaps, which a cms like XOOPS could fill.

I am unable to find a way at this stage to intergrate these two, which upsets me emecensly as I have come to love xoops.
I am being forced to try and work with Joomla which I do not like.

Please any talented developer here consider this project.

If anyone has any ideas how I might at least combine the user database please let me know.

thank you.

Kiwi Chris.

Hi all,

My request is that when you mail users example over 500 users, that you can set it to send over time as if over 500 are sent in one go my host will block all over 500 so at the moment all I can do is manually wait 1hour before sending more.

It would be great if there was an option to send over time to automate this.

Thanks,
Kiwi Chris.

Hi all,

Yes what ghia said is correct, if the user is able to make a comment in there profile on the game website that proves they have access to it.

This is all I am trying to verify, so any random code would do,
and as long as its in there profile page (game site side) this proves they have control over this account.

this is enough for me then to put next to that members realname AKA, character name, "Verified Owner".

I do not want this to be another way for them to register or be authenticated, just to verify they are who they say they are.

that is one way to do it, I think I'll use that until i find out how to use php to do that job for me.

Ideally though I need something that will do the work for me, as I already have 800+ members
and i have around 3-5 new members per day, so doing something manually is not ideal.

I thank all those that have commented here.

I will keep Googling around in the hope I'll find the info I need.

thx again all.

:)

I am starting to realize this is not easy question to explain.
or understand.

I will have another try at explaining.

This is the scenario:

Lets say I play an online game and my character name is "Hulk"

I then go to a fansite (my site) and join the website with username "abc123"
real name "Hulk" aka character name

but then how can we be sure the user that claims to be hulk is hulk??

--------------------------------------

We need characters to show they have access to that character on the game website (not my site),
-----

on the game website (NOT my site) each character has a comments area viewable without logging in.

so I could have a code go to Game Website and look in the comments area, for the number/code.

If its there they are obviously that character, if not the code dies with a fail msg.

I really appreciate the advise, but sailjapan is correct, I have no access to the gaming website, I need all the code to be on my site,

so create a random number/code on my site,
after user pastes to online game
then have my site check to see if x code/number was entered.
