Site moved to a new server on my host with PHP 5.4.15 and it works.

Thanks.

I am running PHP version 5.2.9. I've asked my host to update. Hopefully that does the trick.

As far as disabling protector, I can't get to the control panel to do that but will look around for the option in the database.

I've been away from XOOPS for quite a while and am admittedly rusty.

New install of 2.5.6.

Everything went perfectly until I log out and try to log back in and have the dreaded blank white screen. I created two users right after install as well with no problems.

I've tried to search the forum for a solution and attempted to turn debug mode on using PHPMyadmin within the database.

I'm very rusty with XOOPS and now trying to give my son some instruction.

I appreciate anyone's time to help me sort this.

You were right Webmystar. Permission problem on the root folder, fixed by my host.

Optimism is the mother of disappointment.

Debug is turned on but nothing at all shows on the front page.

If I upload a basic index.html file, it displays properly.

This is the error messge:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@mysite.ca and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.39 Server at www.mysite.ca Port 80.

On the pages I can actually access, there are no errors reported.

I upgraded to 2.4.5 from 2.3.3.

Filecheck was proper.

Upgrade went smooth. Now, no front page.

I can get to modules admin and disabled everything but the system module.

I made sure theme was set to default, re-uploaded default theme and updated system module.

I removed the protector folder after the problem showed up.

I get an internal server error when I try to access the home page or the control panel home.

I'm guessing it is something simple, but I can't get it.

I find that even the new files from the package come back as invalid in the following cases:

/class/mail/phpmailer/codeworxtech.html content invalid
./class/mail/phpmailer/language/phpmailer.lang-fo.php content invalid
./class/xoopseditor/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/langs/sq.js content invalid
./class/xoopseditor/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/themes/advanced/langs/sq.js content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/bulgarian/admin.php content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/nederlands/admin.php content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/portuguesebr/admin.php content invalid

I downloaded a new package, unzipped those files and found the same thing again.

Can you suggest the questions I should raise with the host? Another subsite under the same account, dev.mysite.ca is operating just fine, so I don't know that it is on that end. Of course maybe they are on separate servers, I have no idea about that.

That is quite an old version. I would try doing the upgrade steps locally on a test site first. That will give you the answer for sure regarding the theme and modules.

In the latest version there are release notes that give step-by-step instructions for the upgrade.

Use the checksum files to make sure you have everything uploaded properly before attempting the upgrade.

If you list the modules you are wondering about, someone may be able to better advise you what is likely to work or not.

There were no files missing.

I get these alerts now:
/class/mail/phpmailer/codeworxtech.html content invalid
./class/mail/phpmailer/language/phpmailer.lang-fo.php content invalid
./class/xoopseditor/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/themes/advanced/langs/sq.js content invalid
./include/license.php content invalid

Install, XOOPS Library and Data of course are not there.

./modules/profile/language/english/main.php content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/bulgarian/admin.php content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/nederlands/admin.php content invalid
./modules/system/class/gui/oxygen/language/portuguesebr/admin.php content invalid
./modules/system/language/english/blocks.php content invalid

These make sense to me as I have made some changes to the language files.

Problem persists.

I did the file check and it came up as expected for an upgrade. I've learned that lesson the hard way!

The rest of the site works just fine with the exception of the marquee module which stops scrolling after one pass.
