Here's what happened. Server crashed, back-up AFU so now I had to resort to taking the database files into my local MAMP install and fix the permissions. I am working with Xoops 2.13, yea I know, i should have been upgrading as things got better. But if it ain't broke don't fix it. Well, now it's broke. Moved everything to a new server. Just getting white pages. It may be a permission issue, not for the database (fixed that) but with the pages themselves. Any idea where to start? This is a Plesk server so it is really hard to install fresh as it is not on line yet and I can only see the page thru Plesk admin via i.P.

Pretty sure I have all the paths correct.

Any clues as to what to do.

I have the separate files. I thought of combining them once I fix the permission issues. Which should be what? How should the permissions be set so the database functions correctly? As root?
with read and write? Read and write for all?

When that is fixed I thought of exporting as a SQL for future import to the New server.

I do have a current version of phpmyadmin, locally on my mamp install. Seem easy to change permissions and then export as a single database file for future import into new server. Relatively painless. thanks for pointing me in the right direction. My version of phpmyadmin was so old, on the original server, that feature was not part of the install.

I do have the actual data files. I will read this and see if I can understand it. Please check back as I may need additional advice.

Rented a Server from Hostways. Had several database sites running. Server failed. Backup failed. So now drive is a slave and I'm pulling off the host files and database files (cannot export files via phpmyadmin). So, now each database folder has a bunch of separate files, that are now read only via phpmyadmin, on a new drive install.

My Xoops site was my biggest and most successful site, although non-paying (my daughter's swim team). How do I incorporate these old files into a new writable database?

I know that this is really not an Xoops specific question but this may happen to others some day and an answer may benefit all who are not database wizards.

I REALLY need to get this site functioning especially the listserv with all the groups, emails, coaches...

I see group permissions will work to a point but lets take this example of building a form page with Liaise. So I want to build an employment application for each franchisee. I want to build a form (for each) that can be updated by each franchisee and myself but viewed by all. Are permissions that precise or is permission to alter and make a form solely based on an admin permission to use the module as a whole? If it is the latter, then I will be assign the duties to update each form, a good thing for me and my income but not what they have in mind.

So far my experience has been for single or dual admins across the entire site.

My spammer is using 43343 in every username. 4 instances in 1 site, so far easy to manage. Have applied the recommended I.P. addresses with follow other advice as well.

At this point, in my XOOPS installs, I've only installed for single website/ non-profits (3). I now have the opportunity to do a potentially large, for pay (yea), multi-location business site with the need to access each location/locations via zip code or City search. Each location is individually owned (franchised) and would like their own feedback page, employments page. Gift certificate page. Can XOOPS do this? Does this mean multiple XOOPS installs or a single install with member pages? If so, how much space for each? What modules would be necessary and or desirable? Any other suggestions welcomed.

Not the server, i'm sure! As I have said, unles they have drastically changed the way XOOPS operates. I have 4 other sites that I do not have these issues with.

Just tried embedding a flash video from youtube and this is what it looks like after saving:<object width=""425"" height=""344"">
<param value=""http://www.youtube.com/v/7_SobkISNrY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"" name=""movie"" />
<param value=""true"" name=""allowFullScreen"" />
<param value=""always"" name=""allowscriptaccess"" /><embed width=""425"" height=""344"" allowfullscreen=""true"" allowscriptaccess=""always"" type=""application/x-shockwave-flash"" src=""http://www.youtube.com/v/7_SobkISNrY&hl=en_US&fs=1&""></embed></object>

Wait this is not how it is showing up for me instead of the double quotes it is using the html equivalents of a quote.
